In the spirit of
togetherness, Sunway Malls joined hands to usher in the season of Hari Raya Aidilfitri
with a grand launch held at Sunway Putra Mall recently.
The celebration began
with a graceful traditional dance accompanied by the spellbinding sounds of a
Gamelan performance. In line with the theme of flora and fauna, Tan Sri Datuk
Seri Razman M. Hashim, Executive Deputy Chairman of Sunway Group; HC Chan, CEO
of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks; Kevin Tan, COO of Sunway Malls; Chow Heng
Wah, General Manager of Sunway Carnival Mall; Phang
Sau Lian, General Manager of Sunway Putra Mall; KS Wong, Senior General Manager
of Sunway Velocity Mall and Albert Cheok, Centre Manager of Sunway Giza marked the official
launch by watering plants to symbolise Sunway’s continuous efforts towards
sustainable development.
In line with Sunway’s
direction towards the United
Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UNSDSN) Association, shoppers can redeem a packet of flower
seeds with no purchase at all! Start at home, plant the seeds, and watch these
beautiful flowers bloom in your home or garden this festive season! Seeds will
be given away to shoppers while stocks last.
Each mall will be giving out
different seeds as below:

Guests were serenaded by local
actress and singer Marsha Milan with her own rendition of Hari Raya Hari Bahagia and Manusia.
To give back to the community this festive season, children from Yayasan Chow
Kit were treated to a buka puasa
session alongside the Sunway Malls’ community after the launch.
At Sunway Putra Mall, a tropical
rainforest comes alive with a lush greenery landscape, a walkway shaded with
exotic tropical trees and a soothing waterfall cascading into a lake in the
middle of the concourse.
Themed “Pesona
Raya”, the mall promises you a lavish shopping experience by putting a
highlight on modern fashion centric, bringing in Renowned Designer Collections;
Tom Abang Saufi, Salikin Sidek, Bohari KL, QieRahman, Petra and Kraftangan
Malaysia’s handmade crafts. These collections are set to be prestigiously
unique and authentic to heritage staples such as Batik, handcraftsmanship and
detailed embellishments.
Throughout the festive
month, shoppers and visitors will be entertained with an array of performances
vary from designer’s fashion show, traditional dance. Aside from this, the mall
is also holding a Traditional Arts and Crafts Workshop by Kraftangan Malaysia
where visitors can learn the art of weaving, jewellery making, batik art, and
also rattan crafts.
Sunway Velocity
Mall’s Hari Raya is
themed “An Enchanting Raya”. Adopting a floral batik concept, entitled
“An Enchanting Raya”, shoppers can enjoy a real life kampung house in the city
made with batik elements, banana trees made with batik, large flower
decorations, and numerous lights and pelita adorning the walkways of the Main
Atrium.
Activities and
special performances for all ages are lined up, including Meet & Greet
sessions with characters from Didi & Friends during selected times. There
will also be Angklung Music performances, Gamelan performances, Cak Lempung
performances and also other dance and traditional music performances.
Kraftangan Malaysia will be conducting educational arts and craft workshops for
kids and adults to participate in.
At Sunway Pyramid, the mall takes on a
mystical Raya vision, themed “The Beauty of Raya”. Inspired by the
tranquil art that dates back over a millennium, the papercutting theme hopes to
inspire both today’s and yesterday’s generation when they shop at the mall.
Special papercutting
workshops will be held every weekend (on both days of Hari Raya too) throughout
the day. Learn as the experts take you step by step, creating your very own
masterpiece. Best of all, you get to take your papercutting back home! Shoppers
will be able to take home instant memories when they get your picture taken
with your loved ones at the special photobooth which will be operational all
month long.
In
Kota Damansara, Sunway Giza is abuzz with weekend bazaars which will be
in place to hype up the festivity amongst the community. Shoppers can browse
through selections of cookies, hampers, clothes, and more at the bazaar.
Up
North, Sunway Carnival Mall becomes a blossoming, leafy world of its own with lush tropical greenery
and gorgeous flowers, in line with its theme “Indahnya Raya”.
The mall’s greenery concept to
illustrates and extols the beauty of Hari Raya with vibrant green leaves, grass
and trees to epitomize the symbolic green colour that most associated with Hari
Raya, nature and fresh beginnings. Don’t miss out the opportunity to take a
